SAUZA
TEQUILA AND THE INDEPENDENT FILM CHANNEL
TEAM
UP TO CREATE THE "PURE FILM EXPERIENCE"
Event Nights
and
Consumer Sweepstakes
WESTPORT, CT (May 8, 2001) - Sauza Tequila and
The Independent Film Channel (IFC) have teamed up to launch the Pure Film
Experience, an exciting promotion centered on the creation of independent film
by emerging directors. As part of the program, the IFC conducted a search for
five of the most talented emerging film directors in the country. These five
directors will then each create
film-shorts titled "Stay Pure." One filmmaker's short will be
selected to receive a special VIP screening - and potentially air on the
Independent Film Channel.
Filmmakers selected for the program will shoot their
"Stay Pure" short films between mid-April and June 2001. The
primary locations for shooting will be local clubs/bars and restaurants running
"Pure Film" event nights.
Once all short films have been completed, IFC
celebrity judges and board members will select one winning submission to
potentially air on the channel. The winning submission will also be screened at
a special Sauza Pure Film Premiere and exclusive party. The winning film
director will also receive a small grant. The public will be encouraged to
track the progress of the directors by logging onto www.ifcRANT.com and
www.sauzatequila.com websites.
"The Pure Film Experience is an opportunity for us to discover and support emerging talent in film, and we're excited to be in a position to raise awareness for these gifted directors," said Avery Schmeisser, Marketing Director at Allied Domecq Spirits and Wine, USA, Sauza's importer. "We are pleased to partner with the Independent Film Channel on this project. The pure art of filmmaking is similar to the pure art of making tequila - both take the passion and vision of individuals to create an exceptional product."
"IFC is very excited to partner with Sauza and
the other partners for Pure Film," remarked Caroline Bock, Senior VP
Marketing and Public Relations, IFC. "The project perfectly reinforces the
company's mission to nurture and provide a forum for emerging talent."
"TRAVELOCITY MAGAZINE is psyched to be a partner
of the national Pure Film promotion with Sauza and the Independent Film
Channel," said Randal Kazmierski, publisher, TRAVELOCITY MAGAZINE.
"Sauza and the Independent Film Channel have created a cuttingedge program
for up-and-coming film directors in the marketplace, and we believe
this unique film concept will appeal to the TRAVELOCITY MAGAZINE reader."
